Okay, so I finally decided to upgrade my barn in Stardew Valley. I’d been putting it off, mostly because I’m lazy and gathering resources takes time. But my little coop was overflowing with chickens and ducks, and I was ready to get some cows and goats – and cheese, of course! So, “Big Barn” time it was.
Step 1: Robin, My Go-To Carpenter
First things first, I headed over to Robin’s. She’s the carpenter, and you gotta talk to her to get any building upgrades. I’d already upgraded my house a couple of times, so I knew the drill. I checked the requirements for the Big Barn.
Step 2: Gathering Like a Squirrel
And oh boy, the resources. Needed a good chunk of wood, stone, and some gold.
- Wood: Luckily, I’d been chopping down trees like a madman for a while, so I had a decent stockpile. I used the wood to make things.
- Stone: The stone was a bit trickier. My farm had a few rocks, but not enough. I spent a couple of days just hanging out in the mines, smashing rocks and hoping for the best. It was a grind, but I put on some music and got it done.
- Gold:Gotta spend money to make money! I was saving up for a while.
Step 3: Back to Robin, Place the Order!
After a few in-game days of work, I finally had everything. Back to Robin’s I went. I selected the Big Barn upgrade, paid her the gold, and she got to work. It takes a few days for her to build it, so you have to be patient. Just keep farming, fishing, whatever you usually do.
Step 4: The Big Barn Arrives!
Boom! A few days later, there it was. My shiny new Big Barn. It’s way bigger than the basic one, with plenty of room for activities…or, you know, cows and goats.
Moved all my chickens and ducks over, and they seemed pretty happy with the extra space. I immediately went back to Robin’s and bought a couple of cows. Next up: Goats, and then, the glorious cheese-making begins!
All and all, that big barn is worth it!
