Okay, so I decided to get back into yoyo-ing. It’s something I did as a kid, and I figured, why not give it another shot? Nostalgia, you know?
First things first, I needed a yoyo. I didn’t want to spend a fortune, so I just grabbed a cheap one from a local store. Nothing fancy, just a basic plastic yoyo.
Getting Started (Again)
Next up, I needed to, you know, actually remember how to use the thing. My muscle memory was pretty much nonexistent. So, I did what anyone would do: I jumped on the internet and watched some beginner tutorials.
- I started with the basics, like how to properly hold the yoyo and wind the string. It’s surprisingly tricky to get the tension right!
- Then I practiced the basic throw *’s all in the wrist,I remember.
- I kept dropping the yoyo, the string would get tangled, and it was generally a mess.
Little by Little
I spent maybe an hour each day just messing * it down, trying to get it to come back up. Slowly but surely, I started to get the hang of it. The “sleeper” trick, where the yoyo just spins at the end of the string,I remembered that one.
It’s still a work in progress, of course. I’m not doing any crazy tricks yet. But it’s been fun! It’s a nice little break from sitting at my computer, and it’s satisfying to see myself making progress, even if it’s just a little bit each * my kids love to watch me play it.
