Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into the “Crescent City” series by Sarah J. Maas, and with the third book on the horizon, I figured I’d share my process for keeping track of everything. Because, let’s be real, these books are HUGE, and the details are intricate.
First Step: The Re-Read
Before even thinking about the new book, I had to re-read the first two. No way around it. There’s just too much that happens, too many characters, and too many tiny clues that I know I’d miss otherwise.

I started with “House of Earth and Blood.” Took my sweet time, really savoring it this go-around.

Then I moved on to “House of Sky and Breath.” Even more intense the second time, knowing some of the twists and turns.
Note-Taking: My Saving Grace
This is where things get serious. I’m a HUGE note-taker. Post-its, notebooks, digital docs – you name it, I’ve used it. For “Crescent City,” I decided a dedicated notebook was the way to go.

I created sections for characters. Each major character gets their own page (or several!), where I jot down everything about them: relationships, powers, secrets, you get the idea.

I made a timeline. Trying to keep all the events straight in my head is impossible, so I wrote it all down. Past events, present events, everything.

I also keep a running list of questions and theories. Because, honestly, who doesn’t have theories about these books?
The Deep Dive: Research and Speculation
Re-reading and note-taking are just the beginning, though. Then comes the really fun part: diving into online discussions and fan theories.

And now? I wait. And refresh my email. And check for updates. The anticipation is KILLING me, but at least I feel prepared. My notes are ready, my theories are brewing, and I’m ready to dive back into the world of Crescent City!
