Okay, so today I wanted to dive into something I’ve been messing around with – figuring out the San Jose Sharks’ biggest rivals. It’s not as straightforward as you might think! I mean, sure, there are some obvious ones, but I wanted to really dig in and see what the deal was.

First Attempts: The Obvious Choices
I started by, you know, just thinking about it. Who do the Sharks seem to always have heated games against?
- The Los Angeles Kings: This one’s a no-brainer, right? California rivalry, lots of playoff history… I figured this was probably the top contender.
- The Anaheim Ducks: Another California team. Makes sense. I’ve definitely seen some intense games between them and the Sharks.
Digging Deeper: Checking Fan Forums and Articles
But I didn’t want to just rely on my gut feeling. So, I started poking around online. I hit up some Sharks fan forums, and some of the old message boards and stuff. I figured, who better to ask than the die-hard fans, people always talk online.
What I found was that the Kings and Ducks were definitely up there. Lots of people talking about those matchups. But I started to see another name pop up a lot:
- The Vegas Golden Knights: This one kind of surprised me at first. I mean, they haven’t been around that long. I remember that. But apparently, there’s some serious bad blood there, especially after some playoff series.
Less Intense but Notable
Then, some searching, I found that there are other teams Sharks had competition before.

- The Detroit Red Wings
- The Colorado Avalanche
Putting It All Together
So, after spending a few hours on this, here’s what I came up with:
- It looked like Kings is the top tier, accepted by most of the fans.
- Ducks and Knights are also classic rivals.
- There’s also some older history with teams like the Red Wings.
It’s not exactly a scientific study, but it was a fun little project. It definitely gave me a better sense of the Sharks’ rivalry landscape!
