Okay, so this week I decided to dive into this “pick’em” thing. I’d heard about it from some buddies, and it sounded like a fun way to make the football games a bit more interesting. Honestly, I didn’t really know where to start, but hey, that’s never stopped me before!

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find a place to actually do this pick’em stuff. I poked around online, looking at a few different sites. I wanted something simple, you know? Not a bunch of confusing stats or crazy interfaces. Just a straightforward way to pick the winners of the week’s games.
I ended up choosing a platform. It looked clean and pretty user-friendly, so I created an account.
Making My Picks
Alright, this is where the “fun” began. I looked at the schedule of games and, well, I started picking. Some games were easy – I mean, some teams are just obviously going to win (or at least, that’s what I thought!).
- Team A vs. Team B: Easy, Team A all the way.
- Team C vs. Team D: Hmm, tougher. Went with Team C based on a gut feeling.
- Team E vs. Team F: Total coin flip. Ended up picking Team F, just because.
- And go on…
I went through the whole list like that, some picks based on what I thought I knew about the teams, some based on pure guesswork, and some probably influenced by which team’s logo I liked better (don’t judge!).
The Waiting Game (and the Results)
After submitting my picks, all I could do was wait. I watched the games throughout the week, and let me tell you, it definitely made things more exciting! Every touchdown, every interception, every close call – I was way more invested than usual.

Finally, the week’s games were over, and I eagerly checked my pick’em results. Well, let’s just say I didn’t exactly dominate. I got some right, I got some wrong, and overall, I think I ended up somewhere in the middle of the pack. Not bad for a first-timer, right?
Lessons Learned (and Next Week’s Plan)
So, what did I learn from my first week of pick’em? A few things:
- Maybe I should do a little more research before picking. Just a little, though.
- Gut feelings are sometimes right, but not always.
- It’s definitely more fun to watch the games when you have some “skin in the game,” even if it’s just bragging rights.
Am I going to do it again next week? You bet! I might not be a pro yet, but I’m definitely hooked. Bring on Week 3!
