Today, I was messing around with some old project files and stumbled upon a folder named “j faria.” I was like, “What the heck is this?” I’ve done so many projects over the years, it’s hard to keep track. Anyway, I opened it up and found a bunch of stuff related to a music player I was trying to build a while back.

So, this “j faria” thing, it’s basically a music player. I remember now, I wanted to make something simple, something that just played music without all the bells and whistles. No fancy playlists, no online streaming, just a plain old music player. You know, like the ones we used to have back in the day.
I started by creating a basic interface. Nothing too complicated, just a window with some buttons. I used some old-school tools to put it together. I added a “Play” button, a “Pause” button, a “Stop” button, and, of course, a way to select the music files.
-
First, I made a window. Just a simple rectangle where everything would go.
-
Then I added the buttons, making sure they were big enough to click without needing a magnifying glass.
-
I also made sure you could choose your music files. A little “Browse” button to open up your file explorer.
Next, I had to figure out how to actually play the music. This was the tricky part, at least for me at the time. I had to dig through a bunch of old documents and online forums to find out how to make it work. It was a pain, but I eventually figured it out.
After some trial and error, I got it working! The music player could play music. It was pretty basic, but it worked. I was so proud of myself! I remember spending hours just listening to music with it, feeling like I had accomplished something big.
I even added a little volume control. Just a simple slider to make the music louder or softer. I thought it was a nice touch. It was cool to slide it up and down and hear the music change.
The Result
In the end, the “j faria” music player was a simple, no-frills way to listen to music. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine. It was a fun little project that taught me a lot about building stuff from scratch. I never released it or anything, it was just for me. But looking back, it was a pretty neat experience.
