Alright, so today I wanted to dig into something a bit different, something that’s been on my mind for a while now: the Milwaukee Bucks players from 1970. Yeah, that far back. I’ve always been fascinated by the history of sports teams, and the Bucks have such a rich legacy. So, I decided to roll up my sleeves and see what I could find out about the squad from that year.

First off, I started with the most obvious step – I hit up the internet. I mean, where else do you go when you want to find info on pretty much anything these days, right? I typed in “Milwaukee Bucks 1970 roster” into the search bar and started browsing through the results.
There were a few sports history websites that popped up, and some old newspaper articles that had been scanned and uploaded. It was like stepping back in time. I started making a list of all the players’ names I could find. Some of them were super familiar, like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson – legends, really. But there were a bunch of other guys whose names I’d never heard before. I mean, I consider myself a pretty big basketball fan, but this was taking me back to a whole other era.
Once I had a decent list going, I decided to do some more in-depth research on each player. I wanted to know more about their careers, their stats, and any interesting stories about them. So I went back to the search engine and started looking up each player individually. This part took a while because, you know, some of these guys weren’t exactly household names. I had to dig through some pretty obscure websites and forums to find what I was looking for.
My Findings
Here is what I found:
- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: Obviously, a legend. Even back in 1970, he was a dominant force. One of the best centers to ever play the game.
- Oscar Robertson: Another all-time great. “The Big O” was already a veteran by 1970, but he was still putting up incredible numbers.
- Bob Dandridge: This guy was a real workhorse for the Bucks. Not as flashy as Kareem or Oscar, but he was a consistent scorer and a tough defender.
- Jon McGlocklin: Known as “Jonny Mac,” he was a fan favorite in Milwaukee. A sharpshooter from outside, and a key part of the team’s success.
- Greg Smith: A solid role player who did the dirty work, rebounding and playing defense. Every team needs a guy like this.
- Bob Boozer: A veteran forward who had been around the league for a while. He brought experience and leadership to the team.
I also found out that the Bucks had a pretty good season in 1969-1970, finishing second in their division. It was cool to see how all these players contributed to the team’s success. And let me tell you, it was really a trip to read about the game back then. The style of play was so different from what we see today.

After spending hours on this little project, I felt like I had a much better understanding of the 1970 Bucks team. It was a fun and rewarding experience, diving into the history of the game and learning about the players who paved the way for the stars of today. I’m definitely going to do more of these deep dives into other teams and eras in the future. It’s just too cool to pass up!
