How to Unlock Flying Rocket League Cars: A Beginners Guide

Okay, so, I’ve been hooked on Rocket League lately, and let me tell you, the most awesome thing is flying those cars around. I mean, who doesn’t want to make their car soar through the air like a rocket? It took me a while to get the hang of it, but now I feel like a total pro. So, I thought I’d share my journey with you all, from a noob to a high-flying maestro.

How to Unlock Flying Rocket League Cars: A Beginners Guide

First things first, I hopped into Freeplay mode. This is the best place to start because there’s no pressure, you know? Unlimited boost, just you, the ball, and the open field. I started simple. Just driving around, getting a feel for my car’s weight and how it moves. I boosted on the ground, made some sharp turns, and tried to get comfortable with the basic controls.

Then came the moment of truth – my first jump. I held down the boost and pulled back on the joystick, then hit the jump button. My car lifted off the ground, and for a split second, I felt like I was flying. Of course, I came crashing down pretty quickly, but that was okay. It was a start!

I practiced this over and over again. Holding boost, pulling back on the joystick, and then jumping. I tried to get higher each time, focusing on maintaining control in the air. It was frustrating at times, my car would spin out, or I’d miss the ball entirely. But I kept at it.

The next step was learning to double jump. I thought single jumping was tricky, but boy, was I in for a surprise. It’s all about timing. You boost, pull back on the joystick, jump once, and then just before you start falling, you jump again, still holding down that boost. My first few attempts were a disaster. I’d double jump too early or too late, and my car would just flail around in the air.

But slowly, I started to get it. I learned to time my second jump just right, and my car started to get some serious air. I could almost reach the ceiling of the arena! It was an amazing feeling, like I was defying gravity.

Unlock More Cars

  • Dominus: You can unlock this cool car through the new driver challenges. It’s a fun ride.
  • Fennec: This one is a bit tricky. You might get lucky and find it in a drop, or you can trade with other players. It can also appear as a blueprint after any game, but remember, blueprints need to be crafted.

Now, here’s a tip that really changed the game for me: don’t double jump right away. A lot of people make this mistake. They jump twice immediately, and it messes up their trajectory. Instead, hold boost and the joystick down, then jump once. Get lined up with where you want to go, then let go of the joystick and jump again, all while boosting. This way, you have much more control over your flight.

Once I mastered the double jump, I started playing around with aerials. This is where you boost your car into the air to hit the ball. It sounds simple, but it takes a lot of practice. I spent hours in Freeplay, just trying to hit the ball while airborne. At first, I missed a lot. But then, something clicked. I started to anticipate the ball’s movement, I adjusted my car’s angle in mid-air, and boom! I made contact.

It wasn’t pretty, but it was an aerial. And let me tell you, hitting your first aerial is an incredible feeling. It’s like scoring a goal, but even better because you did it while flying through the air like a total boss.

From there, I just kept practicing. I played online matches, tried out different aerial techniques, and even watched some pro players to see how they did it. I’m still learning, still improving, but now I can confidently say that I can fly in Rocket League. It’s not always perfect, and I still have those moments where I crash and burn, but that’s all part of the fun, right?

So, if you’re struggling to get your car off the ground in Rocket League, don’t give up! It takes time, it takes practice, but it’s totally worth it. Just remember to start slow, get comfortable with the basics, and don’t be afraid to experiment. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll see each other in the skies, battling it out with our high-flying cars. Keep practicing, and most importantly, have fun!
