Okay, so I’ve always been a big fan of Jack Grealish, you know, the football player? And I’ve always wondered about those massive calves he’s got. I mean, they’re seriously huge! So, I decided to look into it and see what I could do to get my own calves looking like his.

I started by hitting the internet, trying to find out what his secret is. I found out that his grandpa also had big calves when he played football. And Grealish said he doesn’t do any special calf exercises or routines in the gym. It’s just something he’s had since he was young. Could be genetics, who knows?
But still, I wasn’t giving up that easily. I kept digging and learned that squats and resistance training, which soccer players often do, are probably a big part of it. Some people are just naturally good at building muscle in their lower body, I guess. Lucky them!
Then I stumbled upon this idea of jumping rope. Sounds simple enough, right? It’s an aerobic exercise that works your whole body, especially your calves. They get a constant, repetitive workout. So, I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I started jumping rope every day, just like a beginner would.
I also found out about Grealish’s workout routine and diet, though I couldn’t find the exact details. It probably includes strength training stuff like squats and deadlifts, exercises that the typical pro soccer player is doing. I started doing some squats and deadlifts myself, trying to imitate what I thought he might be doing. I’m no expert, but I figured it couldn’t hurt, right?
There’s also a bunch of other exercises mentioned online, like calf raises and box jumps, which are supposed to be good for building calf muscles. So, I added those into my routine too. I felt a bit silly doing them at first, but hey, gotta start somewhere!

I found some other weird exercises that were mentioned too, like lifting my heels and something called “the skier.” I tried those out, along with some jumping jacks, which I already knew how to do. And then there was this thing called “calf isolation with step.” Sounds complicated, but it was actually pretty straightforward. You just stand on a step and isolate your calf muscles. Not too bad.
So here’s what my routine ended up looking like:
- Jumping rope: Just started with this, doing it every day.
- Squats and deadlifts: Trying to mimic what I think Grealish does.
- Calf raises and box jumps: Added these in to target the calves specifically.
- Heel lifts and “the skier”: These were a bit strange, but I gave them a go.
- Jumping jacks: Easy peasy, everyone knows how to do these.
- Calf isolation with step: A bit more focused, but not too hard.
I’ve been doing this routine for a while now, and I gotta say, I think I’m starting to see some results! My calves definitely feel stronger, and they might even be looking a bit bigger. I’m not sure if I’ll ever get them to Grealish levels, but hey, I’m having fun trying!
Keep trying, guys!
It’s all about experimenting and finding what works for you. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll have calves that rival Grealish’s. A guy can dream, right?
