Alright, let’s talk about getting ready for The Final Shape. The preload dropped, and you know I had to jump on that right away. Couldn’t wait.

First thing I did was fire up my machine. Logged into Steam, ’cause that’s where I play. Headed straight to the Destiny 2 page, looking for that button. Sometimes it takes a minute to show up, or you gotta restart the client, you know how it is. This time, it was pretty quick, thankfully. Saw the big ‘Pre-load’ option sitting there.
Before hitting download, I double-checked my drive space. Learned that lesson the hard way before. Had to free up some gigs last time for Witch Queen, spent ages deleting old stuff. This time? Looked okay, had enough room. Phew. Didn’t want to shuffle things around again.
So, I clicked the button. The download started churning. It was a big one, definitely chunky. Not the biggest I’ve ever seen, but substantial. Made sure nothing else was hogging the internet connection, wanted it to go as fast as possible.
Just let it run in the background. Went and did some other stuff, kept an eye on the progress bar now and then. My internet connection was actually decent for once, no major hiccups. Took a while, naturally, but it got there.
Once it finished, Steam just showed it as ready, installed but waiting for launch day. That little bit of text saying ‘Ready to play on release’ or whatever it is.

And… yeah, that was pretty much it. Downloaded, installed, all set. Now it’s just the waiting game. Feels good knowing it’s all sorted, though. No scrambling on launch day trying to download while everyone else is already playing. Just gotta wait for Bungie to unlock it.
