Okay, so today I’m gonna walk you through how I tackled a fun little project: figuring out the most famous F1 tracks. It was a bit of a rabbit hole, but super interesting!

First things first: I started by just brainstorming. I mean, I watch F1, but I’m no encyclopedia. So I jotted down the tracks that immediately popped into my head: Monaco, Silverstone, Monza, Spa… the usual suspects.
Next, I hit the web. I googled “iconic F1 tracks” and “best F1 circuits” and started compiling a master list. I cross-referenced a bunch of different articles and forum threads to see which tracks kept coming up again and again.
Then came the harder part: defining “famous.” Is it about history? Sheer spectacle? How often it’s been used? I decided to weigh a few factors:
- Historical significance: Tracks that have been on the calendar for decades got a boost.
- Number of races hosted: The more races, the more chances to become famous.
- Iconic corners or features: Eau Rouge, Copse, Parabolica – you know the drill.
- Media attention and cultural impact: Monaco obviously wins here.
After that, I went back to my list and started ranking. It was pretty subjective, I’ll admit, but I tried to be as objective as possible based on the criteria I set.
I then looked at some F1 fan communities. I wanted to get a sense of what tracks people were really passionate about. This was a great way to see if my own biases were skewing things too much.

Finally, I put together my “official” list. It’s not definitive, and everyone will have their own opinion, but here’s what I came up with.
It involved a lot of back-and-forth, a ton of reading, and a fair bit of arguing with myself. But in the end, it was a blast.
