He gave me the heads-up on when the next one was supposed to happen. Said it was gonna be online, specific time, gotta be quick. Felt kinda weird setting a reminder on my phone just to look at a webpage, but I thought, alright, let’s see what this is all about. Got the computer ready, had the page loaded up maybe ten minutes before.
Go Time… and Then What?
Okay, the time hits. And bam. Total mess.
- I clicked refresh right on the dot. The page just sat there, loading… loading…
- Tried opening it in another tab. Same thing. Just the little spinny icon mocking me.
- After what felt like forever, maybe a minute or two, the page finally loaded.
- The sneakers my buddy wanted? Already marked ‘Sold Out’. Just like that. Gone.
My phone starts buzzing. It’s my buddy. He didn’t get ’em either. Said he got them in his cart, went to checkout, and the whole site just gave him an error. He tried for another ten minutes, reloading, clicking like a madman. Nothing. All gone.
Thinking About It Afterwards
What a weird experience. It wasn’t like shopping. It felt more like trying to win some frantic online contest you didn’t even know the rules for. The whole point seems to be making you feel panicked.
It’s like those limited-edition toys they release around the holidays. Remember that? Parents fighting in the aisles. This is just the online version. Less shoving, maybe, but the same feeling of manufactured scarcity. You spend all this energy trying to beat the clock, beat the website, beat everyone else.
Honestly, by the time it was over, I wasn’t even bothered about the sneakers. It just felt like a waste of time and a bit stressful. Not really sure I see the appeal of doing that regularly. I just closed the laptop. My buddy was still fuming about it an hour later. Me, I figured my old shoes were doing just fine. No need for all that drama.
