Okay, so the other day I was watching Jujutsu Kaisen, and Mahito’s Domain Expansion, “Self-Embodiment of Perfection,” just blew my mind. I mean, that hand sign! I had to try it myself. I’ve been practicing all sorts of hand signs and mudras, so I really wanted to try and learn this one!

I started by, pausing the show right when Mahito does the hand sign. I needed a good reference, you know? It is a pretty complex hand sign so getting the still image was step one.
Finding a Good Picture and Breaking it Down
I spent a good while online, looking for a clear image, I finally found a great picture of it. Then I tried to mimic the pose. Boy, was that harder than it looked!
The key, I realized, was breaking it down.
- First, I worked on getting my left hand right. It is the base of the whole sign. You kinda cup your hand, but not too much.
- Then, the right hand. This one’s trickier. The index and middle fingers form the base.
- The thumb, ring finger, and pinky on the right hand… that’s where I struggled the most. They’re all touching in a specific way, and getting the angles just right took some serious finger gymnastics.
Practice, Practice, Practice
I practiced in front of a mirror first. That way, I could compare my hand position to the picture I had. My fingers felt so clumsy at first! It was like they had a mind of their own, refusing to cooperate.
After maybe, an hour or so, I started to get the hang of it. It is all about the angles and making sure fingers are touching correctly! I kept making tiny adjustments, comparing my hands to the reference image again and again.
I tried doing the sign without looking, I have to admit that it was pretty hard to do without looking in a mirror. It is easy to remember the general position of the hands, but getting my right hand in the exact position without looking is something I am still working on.
Honestly, it’s still not perfect, but it’s way closer than when I started. I can almost feel the cursed energy flowing… almost! It is good enough for a picture, and it is a pretty cool party trick when my friends are over.
