Okay, so I wanted to check out the results for the Chicago Marathon, or maybe just some local races. Here’s how I went about it.

Digging for the Data
First, I just did a simple search. I just typed in “race results Chicago”. I needed to find the official results.
I figured the official site, if there was one, would be the best place to start. you know, for accuracy and all that.
Sifting Through the Results
Once I found a promising looking site, It looked pretty straightforward. Usually, big races like this have a dedicated website or at least a section on a larger running site.
The website had search filters. It let me look for specific runners, which is good if I wanted to stalk, I mean, um, follow a particular friend. I didn’t try that today, though.
Checking Out the Goods
When I found the main results page I clicked to see the overall results. and it all displayed.

They had all the basics: finishing time, pace, overall place, age group place… all that stuff. Pretty standard, but necessary!
It’s all pretty basic once you find the right site.
