2017 dallas mavericks: check the full team records

Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post, following your instructions and mimicking the example’s style and tone:

2017 dallas mavericks: check the full team records

Alright, so I got this crazy idea the other day. I was digging through some old boxes, found a bunch of basketball cards, and it got me thinking about the 2017 Dallas Mavericks. I was like, “Man, I wonder what I can find out about that team, that season… like, everything.”

So I started, you know, just Googling. Simple stuff at first: “2017 Dallas Mavericks roster,” “2017 Dallas Mavericks record,” stuff like that. Nothing fancy, just getting the basic facts down. I made a little text file, copy-pasting names, stats, the usual. Dirk was still there, of course, the legend.

Then I started looking for game results. Okay, that was a pain. There are a lot of games in an NBA season. I went to some sports website, don’t even remember which one, and started, like, manually going through each game. Date, opponent, score, win or loss. It was tedious, I’m not gonna lie. But I was on a mission!

Getting serious about the process

After I got the wins and losses sorted, I wanted more. Like, who played in each game? How many minutes did they get? How many points did they score? Yeah, I went deep. I found some other sites that had more detailed box scores, and I started adding that info to my growing text file. It was getting messy, I’ll admit.

  • First Step: Basic Googling, roster, record.
  • Second Step: Manually finding game results (ugh).
  • Third Step: Box scores, player stats, minutes… the whole nine yards.

I even started looking up some game highlights on, you know, video sites. Just to get a feel for how the team played, who was hot, who was slumping. It wasn’t really necessary for my little project, but I was getting into it!

Finally, I had this massive, sprawling text file filled with, like, every stat I could find about the 2017 Dallas Mavericks. It wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t organized, but it was mine. I felt like I’d, I don’t know, reconstructed the season in some weird, data-driven way.

So, yeah, that’s what I did. Probably a waste of time for most people, but I enjoyed it. It’s kind of cool to just dive into something like that, you know? Like a little digital archaeology project. Anyway, that’s my story.
