Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another project I tackled a while back. This time, we’re talking about getting my hands on a 2016 Triumph 675R. Man, what a ride it’s been, literally and figuratively!

So, I’ve always been a huge fan of sportbikes. I mean, who isn’t? The speed, the agility, the sheer thrill of leaning into a turn. You know what I mean. A couple of years ago, I decided to take the plunge and get myself something special. I did some digging around online, checking out forums and classifieds, and that’s when I stumbled upon the Triumph Daytona 675R. This bike, let me tell you, it’s a beast. But a beautiful one.
First things first, I scoured the internet for listings. I checked out every motorcycle site you can think of. I found some listings of private sellers and some of motorcycle dealers. I’m talking about those places, forums, even some shady-looking websites I probably shouldn’t have been on. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do, right? I compared prices between private sellers and dealers. Private sellers’ prices were much more attractive. I finally found a few that were the 2016 model, which was exactly what I was looking for. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. These bikes aren’t exactly growing on trees, you know?
After I narrowed it down to a couple of options, I started reaching out to the sellers. A lot of back and forth, a lot of “Is this still available?” and “Can I come take a look?” Some sellers were responsive, but some just didn’t reply me. Finally, I found one that seemed promising. It was listed by a guy who seemed like he knew his stuff, and the bike looked like it was in pretty good shape from the photos. So, I scheduled a time to go check it out in person.
I remember the day I went to see it. I was so pumped. I showed up, and there she was, gleaming in the sunlight. The seller walked me through everything, and I mean everything. He showed me all the maintenance records, the modifications he’d made, the whole nine yards. I took it for a test ride, and man, it was like a dream. The engine purred like a kitten, and it handled like it was on rails. It was clear the guy took good care of it, something that was super important to me.
After the test ride, I was sold. We negotiated the price a bit, which, let’s be honest, is always a bit awkward. But we eventually settled on a number that we were both happy with. I signed the papers, handed over the cash, and just like that, she was mine.

Getting the insurance sorted was the next hurdle. I shopped around for quotes, and let me tell you, insuring a sportbike is not cheap. But, you know, gotta have it. Finally found a decent rate, and boom, I was good to go. I found Progressive was a good choice.
Since then, I’ve put a ton of miles on that bike. It’s been my daily commuter, my weekend warrior, and everything in between. I’ve taken it on long trips, short trips, and everything in between. I’ve ridden it in the rain, in the sun, and even in a little bit of snow (don’t recommend that, by the way). And through it all, that bike has never let me down. It’s been an absolute blast to own, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
- Finding the right bike took some time, but it was worth it.
- Negotiating the price was a bit of a dance, but we got there.
- Insuring it wasn’t cheap, but necessary.
- Riding it has been an absolute joy.
So yeah, that’s my story of getting my 2016 Triumph 675R. It’s been a wild ride, and I’m looking forward to many more miles on this amazing machine. If you’re thinking about getting one, do it. You won’t regret it. Just be prepared to turn some heads!
