Written by Naresh |
American military and Intelligence officials say, CIA Deputy Director Stephen R. Cappes travelled to Islamabad this month with new information about ties between the ISI and militants operating in Pakistan's tribal areas.
The CIA assessment specifically points to links between members of the Spy service, ISI and the militant network led by Moulavi Jalaluddin Haqqani which American officials believe maintains close ties with senior figures of Al-Qaeda. Haqqani group is believed to be behind a surge of violence in Afghanistan, and also possibly behind the bombing of the Indian embassy in Kabul in early this month. |
