What happened to the art and craft of storytelling? Is it dying a slow death in this age of instant and pithy communication? With the increasing tendency of families going the nuclear way with working parents which leaves less time to attend to the children for whom television is
slowly becoming the only source of entertainment.
The grandmother tales were simple with morals but now the trend has changed. However story telling can be all the more exciting and thrilling to inculcate values and creativity in little ones. On the occasion of Children's Week, Odyssey, your neighborhood store endeavored to revive the art of story telling for the new age kids and parents.
Odyssey had organized 'Magic of Stories', a fun filled carnival for all kids to bridge this gap and imbibe the art of storytelling, story writing, painting and arranging a story, etc a week long activity held on 8th & 9th November and between 14th to 16th November '08 at Odyssey stores. The workshops and competitions allured the kids into the miraculous world of fantasy.
Odyssey endeavored to capture the exhilarating trend of story telling where young ones not only learned to build stories but also read, write and paint stories once narrated by their grandmothers.
Children participated in numerous workshops like Monster story workshop, the hilarious haunting story, ancient story, Amar Chitra Katha, Nail Painting, Funskool's Play doh workshop, and greeting card workshop. The young ones also competed for contests such as Express a MAD, Build a story, arrange the story and Hear and Paint the Barbie's Diamond Castle story.
