Taking care of "migratory" partymen

Just few days before he raised the banner of revolt against the Congress, Rahul Gandhi and coterie, rebel party leader Akhilesh Das  was seen in intimate conversation with Subbirami Reddy, a former minister who was dropped from the union council of minister along with Das. These days, Subbirami is getting "how are you" calls from almost all those who matter in the Congress. The leadership seems to be wary of the season of migratory birds when the general elections are due in less than one year.
Another Congressman who is suddenly being "looked after" is Sanjay Singh of Amethi. Indications are that Singh will be fielded from Sultanpur Lok Sabha which shares borders with Amethi and Rai bareilly and forms integral part of a small bastion of Nehru-Gandhi stronghold in Uttar Pradesh. Sultanpur's claimant Captain Satish Sharma has moved to the cooler climates of Rajya Sabha.

Mani Better off campaigning

Mani Shankar Aiyar is busy campaigning in Karnataka. Apart from shoring up Congress prospects in the state, Mani has another reason to spend more time in Karnataka. He does not have a ministerial room in Delhi after being divested of sports and youth affairs. In Krishi Bhawan, a room for his personal staff has been arranged with lot of
difficulty and lobbying. But the minister continues to look for an office address and a chair to sit.

"Cementing" ties with Pakistan

Now that amounts to truly cementing ties.

Union commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath has come up with an idea of importing cement neighbour Pakistan. With cement prices sky-rocketing, Nath feels cheap cement from Pakistan will cost little in transportation and held India tide over inflation. Nath has already spoken to his
Pakistani counterpart and the archrival is keen to do the needful. Now it remains to be seen how houses made of Pakistani cement fare under heat, thunder, snow and showers.

Only the best for MPs

Everyone has a good word to say about Rajiv Pratap Rudi. The Constitution Club or MPs club under his stewardship is national capital's best and swanky club with virtually everything being first-class-first. There is gym called "Zero Hour" and cafeteria named as "The Well. Apart from a SPA, swimming poll, the club will have billiards table too for MPs, ex-MPs and their families.

A wag was however heard commenting rather regretfully saying had club secretary Rudi had paid so much attention to his constituency he would not have been having an "ex-MP" tag with him. Now that is truly a left handed compliment.

Rabri Masala

Another book on political scene is set to hit shelves. "Rabri Devi –Lalu's masterstroke" by journalist  Manoj Chaurasia is peppered with anecdotes. Among other things, it mentions how Rabri had reservation about a lady politician from the RJD. She is said to have "banned" her entry inside Lalu's house and once even chased her with a broom in hand.
