Dreams of "Mungeri lal" Advani
Was it in anticipation or premonition or just wishful thinking? In Lok Sabha, the prime minister in waiting L.K. Advani created a flutter when he addressed Pranab Mukherjee as the leader of the opposition. Advani's slip of tongue quickly became subject matter of intense political whispers and discussion. While Speaker Somnath Chatterjee wondered if the remark was in "anticipation" of the shape of things to come, Congressmen were heard sarcastically referring to it as "Mungeri Lal ke Haseen Sapne." Take your pick. -------------------------------------- Mosquito ok, workers?
Rahul Gandhi loves to be candid. The other day when he was touring tribal belt of Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, scribes asked if he was not scared of mosquito bites while spending nights at modest tribal homes. Rahul said he was carrying odomos, an odorless white mosquito repellent gel with him. A wag was heard wondering how Rahul was warding off the flow of Congress workers and sympathizers at the venues of his visits. It remained unanswered. -------------------------------------- Mishra's inclinations
why did Brijesh Mishra take an independent line on Indo-US nuclear deal? The BJP leader's association with a reputed think-tank is said to have scaled in favour of the deal. Moreover Mishra has consistently been advocating closer Indo-Us ties in the prevailing world order. -------------------------------------- Spokespersons' woes
Should not there be a annual gathering of party spokespersons cutting across party lines like the meeting of speakers and presiding officers of various states cutting across party lines? Ask BJP's voice Prakash Javadekar and he would readily favour it.
Prakash is perhaps keen to pick few leaves from other parties' survival kit. He became a tad sensitive recently. Apparently Prakash was miffed after a particularly long and boring briefing on price hike where he reeled off whole sale price index. Some of the journalists even said a sarcastic thank you when the press conference ended. Prakash reportedly brought the matter to Rajnath Singh's notice but the party chief had a lot of sympathy but little solution to offer.
In this context, sharing notes with Anand Sharma, Shakeel Ahmad,Jayanti Natarajan and Abhishek Singhvi who face grilling and ragging each time will be worth. -------------------------------------- Playing it cool
Tathagat Satpathy, son of the famous Nandini Satpathy has a sense of humour. Just the other day when a waiter in central hall of parliament mistakenly dropped tea on him, the BJD MP did not shout or howl. He called the visibly shaken waiter and told him that pouring coffee on him would have been a better idea as he dislikes tea. The waiter did not understand the joke but was relieved to see smiling face of the MP.
