The nation's wonderful stepmother called Sonia
Written by
Cho Ramaswamy
The following is no ordinary achievement. In fact it is a wonder. At least for now, I am not discussing the elevation of Pratibha Patil as our President as a standalone case, though that event in itself is no minor exploit.

When one comprehends the fact that a person who doesn't deserve to be elected to a municipal ward due to grave allegations of graft and worse, Sonia's attempt to trigger the very same individual's becoming the highest official in the nation cannot be dismissed as a small accomplishment.

But a higher attainment has been reached by Sonia Gandhi who converted serious charges of fraud and fatal, ferocious felony against Patil into frivolousness by ignoring them and not even attempting to offer a plausible rationalization, which in itself is indeed a fantastic feat.

Let us face facts. Already Sonia had managed to morph the office of the prime minister into a dumb doohickey and converted the communists into compradors craving for chocolates. As if there was nobody competent enough in the country to contest, the so purely blameworthy Patil was picked up and forced to be accepted by political forces on both the sides of a centrist fulcrum as the nation's supreme commander.

In the end, a guilt-ridden, greedy gator was gleefully granted the tenancy of national Gasthaus called the Rashtrapathi Bhavan in the name of gender equality by a Gastarbiter.

It was surely an excellent execution of an exceptional game plan by Signora Sonia!

The daunting prospect of facing piqued public would have harried any other hesitant harridan.

Sonia didn't have a political constituency to care for like Mayawati, wasn't weighed down by a need to heed and feed supporters in antagonistic environs like Mamta Bannerjee, either be jostled by political opponents a la Jayalalithaa or strive for public adulation like other females in the Congress. Sans all these standings, Sonia was sure of the silly souls called Indians and succeeded in performing the perfect perfidy of placing Patil in a position that could possibly prove to be potentially profitable in the perceivably predictable political predicate.

Sonia has something the others don't have – a family name to flaunt. But it's becoming the basis for skulduggery on a national basis is as bad as bubonic beleaguer.

Such a person is being praised as the icon of motherhood by the Congressmen. How wonderful! Wasn't the person who sent Lord Ram into a 14-year exile also his motherly relation?
