Question: How different is the DMK regime's handling the police when compared to that of the earlier Jayalalithaa government?
Answer: Policemen believed that they had some powers because of the treatment they got from the Jayalalithaa regime. At present, the cops are under the impression that rowdies think that it is their government.

Question: What is your take on the broad criticism that the central government has ignored the inputs from the CPM?
Answer: Praise should not be described as criticism.
R Manakavalan, Coimbatore 45
Question: If parliamentary elections are held tomorrow, will the results of Punjab and Uttarakhand be repeated at the Centre as well?
Answer: In more ways than one, it will be like the Uttarakhand verdict. The BJP may win more seats but be short of a majority.
Kalaignar Priya, Vellore (Namakkal)
Question: Dayanidhi Maran, MK Stalin and Kanimozhi - Who among these three has the maximum chance of becoming the next Chief Minister?
Answer: Since you have omitted [MK] Azhagiri in your list, I suspect you have a hidden agenda. I will not be a party to such a conspiracy and hence will not answer your question.
R Vanumamalai Perumal, Peththarangapuram
Question: Karunanidhi says that the people aren't prepared to hand over the reins of the reign once again to Jayalalithaa. Comment.
Answer: I do not know how Kalaignar has deduced this. For arguments' sake even if one were to agree to that for the present, the DMK has the power to change this belief amongst the masses.
S Shiva, Chennai 4
Question: What do you make of Karunanidhi's claim that he remembers Tiruvalluvar every time he visits the district by that name?
Answer: This is the problem with him. For everything, he has a set of dreams, fancies and memories. Perhaps this malady dogged his approach to the Mullaiperiyar Dam issue. Because the word has the word "Periyar" incorporated into it, Kalaignar must have gone into the memory trip of his and fallen into the chasm of rationalism, thereby allowing Kerala to do whatever it wanted in this matter.
LN Shiva Kumar, Chennai 33
Question: Opposition parties are toying with the idea of re-nominating Kalam for the ensuing presidential elections. Comment.
Answer: I personally think that the BJP is ploughing a lone furrow in this issue. I do not know whether their attempt will fructify.
M Ashok Raja, Aravakkurichchippatti
Question: [Senior BJP leader] L Ganesan has gone on record stating that Pakistan and China extending an olive branch to Sri Lanka is detrimental to our interests.
What is your take on this?
Answer: The matter doesn't end with that. In more ways than one, this is a sore point that India has perpetrated on herself.
S Thoosimuthu , Chennai 11
Question: A television programme telecast in Jaya TV claimed to have revealed "several shocking truths" about the background of Kanimozhi's event – Chennai Sangamam. Comment.
Answer: Kalaignar has treated this expose with disdain by terming it a "piece of fiction." But I am unable to overlook the issue in a similar manner. Members of the Chief Minister's immediate family took part in a function organised by a pro-LTTE activist. Worse, the state government was prepared to make advance payments for the fete and regularise them later. These aren't ordinary, imaginary events.

Question: On what basis do you think that Mulayam Singh Yadav has said that the election results in Punjab and Uttarakhand have revived the need for a third front at the Centre?
Answer: The only result of a third front will be scattering of votes. Instead of doing this, he should copy the formula adopted by BJP baiters like Laloo Prasad Yadav who have managed to create a working arrangement with the Congress, do the exact opposite and come to a political understanding with the BJP. That will ensure a political future for Mulayam Singh Yadav.
KR Sarangapani, Coimbatore 41
Question: What is your take on the rumours about a third front at the centre?
Answer: There is a very small possibility on the basis of the results of the ensuing UP elections. Else, it doesn't seem to have attracted any takers.
K Ramesh, Theerthamalai
Question: To sing the praises of the DMK after overlooking its mistakes, the PMK is not its branch office, says Ramadoss. Comment.
Answer: It is evident that Dr Ramadoss has his logistics worked out on this intermittent criticism of the DMK. The truth is not lost on the CM either. Yet he calls the PMK founder's diatribes as "constructive criticism." For the time being that is it.

Question: Why has the Divinity repeatedly rewarded Kalaignar with power despite his not believing in God but insulting those who do and changing his political stand for momentary gains?
Answer: Despite possessing several capabilities, readiness to toil ceaselessly, in spite of cobbling together an interesting sets of political alliances, owning a huge commercial empire, and being supported incessantly by the newspapers, Karunanidhi has lost power several times. Now why did that happen? Why did he grieve over the loss of power during 13 years? If you are able to answer these queries, you yourself may find an answer from your own question.
